Find Your Inner Spirit Junkie and Become One with Your Soul
The word of the year is “self-awareness”. But in a world that’s so busy, how do we take the time to get to know ourselves? The task can seem daunting, especially when you feel like you don’t even have time to breathe, much less time to become centered in who you are. This should be the perfect indication that self-awareness practices are EXACTLY what you need to develop. When your soul becomes exhausted from the routine tasks, it is easy to start acting like a robot. You go from late nights to early mornings at work, barely finding time for the gym, grabbing the quickest food you can find… until suddenly, you can’t remember your motivation. Why are you doing all of these things? Are they fulfilling you? If you can’t figure out the answer, it’s time for some self-discovery. I’ve found in my own circumstances that the way to finding the answer to these questions is by becoming one with my soul.
At our core, we are spiritual beings living a human experience. We crave otherness, and oftentimes, we can feel like we lack something but can’t articulate what that is. When I embraced a consistent meditation practice, I was able to open up my consciousness to explore my inner desires – the desires that were being blocked by everyday distractions like school and work.
My meditation practice has involved a great deal of research, though. I have become a spiritual junkie of sorts – I glean information from all religions, different meditation practices, the concept of the Law of Attraction, crystals, astrology, you name it. When I finally became curious about things and decided which parts of each of these practices fit my lifestyle and ideologies best, my mind expanded into a beautiful palette of color. By using these practices, I’m able to paint a new picture every day for myself, giving myself room to grow and discover more about the inner workings of my mind.
My daily routine switches up quite a bit depending on which combination of practices I feel would most benefit me that day. I start every morning by waking up and stretching. My body can become tense after a night of sleep, and it’s crucial that my body is woken up to embrace what I am about to tell my mind. Next, I’ll brush my teeth, making sure to clean my tongue thoroughly as that is the area where bad bacteria and/or bad spiritual energy can manifest itself during the night. Then, I affirm. If you want to become one with your soul, you have to talk to it. I affirm myself that I can accomplish all of my daily tasks, that I have the intelligence and capacity to overcome difficulties, and that my divine feminine energy is in my favor today.
Every night, I focus more on journaling. Journaling means different things to me. Every night I read a scripture passage from my devotional and listen to a worship song to help me reflect on a theme for the day. I use essential oils during this time (lavender to be specific) to calm my senses. Through scripture, I am able to call upon the practice of my religion to find a good moral space to stay in the next day. I think it’s also an excellent practice for helping me have pleasant dreams after. Prayer also calms me, and I always offer up thanksgiving for the day I had.
On some nights, I will practice scripting. I write everything I wish to have from the universe in the PRESENT tense, as if I already had each of those things. It’s great for the imagination and discovering your inner truths – like what job you really want, what kind of person you want to be in a long-term relationship with, etc. For example, if I’m trying to manifest a certain job in my life, I could say something like this: “I am sitting in my Los Angeles apartment picking textures for a new product launch we will be having for X brand. I am pitching my ideas to the team tomorrow morning and I can’t wait. I get a call from my boyfriend who is taking me to lunch downtown.” Pretty powerful, huh?
I’ve manifested some amazing things in my life using these techniques, and now it’s your turn. So go ahead and explore your inner spirit junkie: are you craving Ayurvedic yoga to align your body with your mind? What about using crystals during your next meditation to employ good energy? I’ve tried all of these things and more, and I can’t wait to continue sharing my journey and advice with you to help you better align your soul with the universe.
As always, peace, love, and light.
