Be Like Water by Brette Sims
In yoga yesterday, my teacher told us this profound parable in a restorative class. It touched me!
There was a wise old man and a young boy.
The old man told the boy to take a fist full of salt and put it in a small cup of water.
Then he asked the boy, “how does it taste?”
The boy said, “Bitter.”
Then the old man told the boy to take a fist full of salt and put it in a lake.
Then he asked the boy again, “how does it taste?”
The boy said, “Fresh!”
The amount of salt (pain) in life is the same
It just matters what container you put it in.
We have to become lakes… LET GO and be fluid
Not small containers
Pain becomes too much to bare when placed in a small confined container
