Film: The Last Dance on Netflix
OK soo… let me preface this by saying, I do not ever usually watch sports documentaries. But lately I have been more into sports due to the sheer drive, confidence, strong vision and determination so many athlete’s have. Michael Jordan was also just the hero of any 90’s kid. He created so much of what is now streetwear culture. I remember in the 3rd grade I HAD to have fresh Jordans and a Nike hat. The day my dad took me and my best friend, Reika to the Nike store opening in San Fran was one of my best days! Lol we thought we were so cool and would rock overalls with our Nike gear.
I also have always just LOVED and respected Dennis Rodman for his IDGAF-ness and his courage to always be his authentic self. #DOYOU
This film gave me so much inspiration and motivation. Near the end it talks about Michael Jordan actually being a mystic because what was so rare about him was his POWERFUL ability to stay in the present moment. He was also a fearless optimist. He had the sheer drive to be the VERY best EVERY DAY. And he knew that the thing about success is, it’s only valid in the present moment. You have to do it again. I also learned that the head coach of the Bulls, Phil Jackson, had them all doing Zen buddhist, Native American and other spiritual practices to really tap into their higher selves and visualize winning. His practices also brought them closer together as a team.
“Why would I think about missing a shot I haven't taken?” - Michael Jordan
This film taught me so much about leadership, optimism, presence and personal authority. What do you have to loose if you were to truly BE YOU? What do happen if you truly believed you could not lose? Mentality shift is everything, especially in artistry and entrepreneurship.
